WebJul 13, 2023 · Chromatin Structure. During interphase, distinct chromosomes as shown in Figure \(\PageIndex{4}\) are not observed. Rather each chromosome occupies a spatially limited, roughly elliptical domain which is known as a chromosome territory (CT). Each chromosome territory is comprised of higher-order chromatin units of ~1 Mb each.
